Broadmoor Tool Library Borrowing Rules
Tools are first-come, first-served, and are only available at the Broadmoor Arts & Wellness Center (3900 General Taylor). Tools must be returned to the Broadmoor Arts & Wellness Center. Tools must be checked out and returned during the following hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday Friday 9 am–3 pm, Wednesday 9 am - 2 pm and 9 am– 2 pm on the first Saturday of every month by appointment.
Access to the tool lending library will be restricted to Broadmoor residents.
Only adults ages 18+ are eligible to check out tools from the lending library.
Residents can check out 2 items at a time for general use.
Materials from the Tool Library have a loan period of 7 days.
The Broadmoor Tool Lending Library has a 1 strikes policy for broken tools. If library users return tools that need major repairs from the lending library once, they will lose borrowing privileges.
The Broadmoor Tool Lending Library has a 1 strike policy for lost tools. If library users misplace tools, they will be responsible for paying to replace that tool before they can be eligible to borrow tools again.
The Broadmoor Tool Lending library will collect a late fee for tools starting at two days late. Late fees will be $1 per day up to 2 days. After 2 days, lending library users will be responsible for 50% of the cost to replace the tool. The Broadmoor Tool Lending Library will deduct any late fees charged from the cost to replace the tool prior to charging users the replacement cost.
Borrower agrees that the Broadmoor Improvement Association is not responsible for any manufacturing defects in quality of workmanship or materials inherent in any borrowed tools.
Borrower agrees that if the borrowed tool becomes unsafe or is in a state of disrepair, the borrower will immediately discontinue use of the tool and return it to the Broadmoor Improvement Association.
Before borrowing any tool or piece of equipment, the borrower shall sign the liability form to be provided by the BIA. The borrower acknowledges that the borrower is capable of using the tools in a safe and proper manner. By signing the liability waiver, the borrower acknowledges that they assume full responsibility for any injury or damages to their property that may result from use of tools from the Broadmoor Tool Lending Library.
The borrower acknowledges that they will be the sole user of any tools borrowed from the Broadmoor Tool Lending Library.
Items can be renewed one time over the phone or online as long as there is no waitlist for the tool.
By loaning tools, the Broadmoor Improvement Association does not assume any responsibility for personal injury or damaged property resulting from the use of these materials. Borrowers accept all legal liability associated with the use of materials.
By signing this liability waiver, borrowers acknowledge that they have read and understood all policies of the Broadmoor Tool Lending Library, including the policies pertaining to lost or broken tools.
